Shopify vs WooCommerce vs Wix for Singapore businesses

Information checked as of 8 October 2026

Most "Shopify vs WooCommerce vs Wix" comparisons are written for American stores. In Singapore the questions are different. Can customers pay with PayNow? Does the platform's own payment service even work here? Will prices show GST the way IRAS expects? Can it print SingPost or Ninja Van labels? Is there a till for your pop-up? This guide answers those Singapore-specific questions for each platform, using each vendor's own documentation, and ends with a recommendation by business type.

For the general trade-offs (themes, apps versus plugins, upkeep, total cost) see our Shopify vs Wix comparison and what Shopify and WooCommerce actually cost. We don't repeat those here.

This is general information, not legal, tax or financial advice. It summarises published help pages as of the date above. Platforms change their features and country lists often, so check the live pages in the References before you decide.

Payments: PayNow, GrabPay and local gateways

Singapore shoppers expect PayNow, and many use GrabPay. This is where the three platforms differ most.

Shopify

Shopify Payments works for Singapore businesses. It takes the major cards plus Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay, and GrabPay is offered as an early-access local method. PayNow isn't on Shopify's list. You also can't plug in your own Stripe account: Shopify says standalone Stripe isn't available where Shopify Payments is supported. So most Singapore stores add a provider from Shopify's Singapore list, such as HitPay or Airwallex, for PayNow. Shopify charges a third-party transaction fee on those providers, at a rate set by your plan. Our guide to PayNow and GrabPay on Shopify covers the setup.

WooCommerce

WooPayments, WooCommerce's own payment service, lists Singapore as a supported merchant country. Its local methods include GrabPay, which WooCommerce says is for Singapore merchants only and appears to customers with a Singapore billing address paying in SGD. PayNow isn't on WooCommerce's list of WooPayments local methods.

The official Stripe extension for WooCommerce doesn't help either. Its documentation lists the extra payment methods it supports, and PayNow isn't one of them. WooCommerce says methods outside that list won't appear in checkout even if you turn them on in Stripe. A GitHub issue on the extension reports the same gap. For PayNow, Singapore stores typically use HitPay's WooCommerce plugin. Its WordPress.org listing says it accepts PayNow QR, cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, WeChat Pay, Alipay and GrabPay, and HitPay's docs say refunds can be made from the WooCommerce dashboard.

Wix

Wix Payments is available in 15 countries, mostly in Europe and North America, and Singapore isn't one of them. Wix says businesses outside those countries can use third-party providers instead. For Singapore, Wix lists PayPal, Stripe, Braintree, Oceanpayment, Rapyd, WeChat Pay (through Oceanpayment), Atome, TripleA and HitPay. Wix's HitPay page lists PayNow QR, DBS PayLah!, GrabPay and PayLater by Grab among the methods HitPay supports.

PayNow's no-surcharge rule applies on every platform: the Association of Banks in Singapore doesn't let merchants add a fee for paying by PayNow, and MAS confirmed this in a 2025 parliamentary reply. Provider fees change often, so check each provider's own pricing page rather than relying on figures quoted in blog posts.

Want to offer instalments as well? Our guide to buy now, pay later on Shopify in Singapore covers Atome and PayLater by Grab.

GST and GST-inclusive pricing

Once you're GST-registered, IRAS requires you to display and quote prices to the public inclusive of GST, including on websites. Regulation 77 of the GST (General) Regulations puts that in law. All three platforms can do this, but you have to set it:

Whichever you choose, the platform only calculates and displays tax. Registration, filing and the S$1 million threshold are between you and IRAS. Our guide to GST on a Singapore Shopify store covers when you must register and how exports are zero-rated, and those rules are the same on every platform.

Local delivery: SingPost, Ninja Van and others

SingPost's e-commerce integration page names Shopify and Shopcada as the platforms it integrates with, and its SingPost Shipping & Fulfilment app is listed in the Shopify App Store. Ninja Van Singapore publishes a guide to installing its Shopify app, which is also in the App Store.

We couldn't find an official SingPost or Ninja Van plugin for WooCommerce or Wix aimed at Singapore merchants on either carrier's site. That doesn't mean there's no way: carriers often offer APIs or work with multi-carrier shipping tools. If a particular courier matters to you, ask it which platforms it supports before you choose.

Hosting, data location and the PDPA

The PDPA applies to your customers' personal data whichever platform you use. Section 26 says you can't transfer personal data outside Singapore unless it gets protection comparable to the PDPA. All three platforms involve overseas processing in some way:

None of this makes one platform PDPA-compliant and another not. What matters is your privacy notice, consent for marketing, and agreements with whoever processes data for you. A Singapore-hosted WooCommerce site still sends data overseas if its payment, email or analytics tools do.

Selling in person: POS in Singapore

The EDGE grant: check the vendor, not the platform

Enterprise Singapore replaced PSG with the EDGE grant on 30 September 2026. Its E-Commerce – Online Shop (B2C) activity part-funds an online shop with integrated payments for eligible businesses, but you have to choose a pre-approved solution and vendor from IMDA's SMEs Go Digital list, and you mustn't start work or pay a supplier before applying. The listings are packages from vendors, such as agencies that build stores, not platforms. We didn't verify any of Shopify, WooCommerce or Wix as a pre-approved solution in its own right, so don't assume your platform choice decides eligibility. Check the IMDA list for packages on the platform you want, and read the activity page for the current caps.

Help and local agencies

All three have directories of outside experts: the Shopify Partner Directory, WooCommerce's Woo Agencies directory and the Wix Marketplace. Check the filters for location before you contact anyone. If you want EDGE support, it's quicker to start from the IMDA list and work back to the platform.

Which one fits your business?

Frequently asked questions

Is Wix Payments available in Singapore?

No. Wix lists 15 countries for Wix Payments, mostly in Europe and North America, and Singapore isn't one of them. A Singapore Wix store uses a third-party provider instead. Wix's list for Singapore includes PayPal, Stripe, Atome and HitPay, and HitPay adds PayNow and GrabPay.

Can I accept PayNow on WooCommerce?

Yes, through a third-party plugin. WooPayments doesn't offer PayNow, and the official Stripe extension for WooCommerce doesn't support it either. Singapore stores commonly use the HitPay Payment Gateway plugin, which accepts PayNow QR, cards, GrabPay and other methods.

Which platforms can show GST-inclusive prices for Singapore?

All three. Shopify has a setting to include tax in product prices, WooCommerce has the Prices entered with tax option, and Wix has a Tax is already included in my prices option. IRAS requires GST-registered businesses to display GST-inclusive prices, so turn this on once you're registered.

Does Wix POS work in Singapore?

No. Wix says its POS is available only to businesses in the US, Canada and the UK (except Northern Ireland) connected to Wix Payments. Shopify POS is sold in Singapore, and WooCommerce lists Singapore for in-person payments in its mobile app on tablets.

Is Shopify, WooCommerce or Wix pre-approved for the EDGE grant?

We couldn't confirm that any of them is a pre-approved solution in its own right. EDGE's online shop activity requires a pre-approved solution and vendor from IMDA's SMEs Go Digital list, which lists vendor packages. Check that list and the Enterprise Singapore activity page before you commit.
